First off I just want to say that I crossed off one of my top bucket list items! I FINALLY got to go see the the New York Yankees in the BRONX. I LOVED every minute of it! Yankees stadium was UHHH Maze ING.
The day went by in a blink of an eye! The whole day went so well and everyone enjoyed themselves and had a ball! We started the day off by leaving camp at 5:45A.M. (usually mornings are hard for me to get up but I was wide awake and ready to go) We ended up getting into Albany around 7:10A.M. the Mega bus was 30mins late picking us up and we didn't leave until 8am. (I was a little upset because that threw our whole day off). Mega bus is a double decker bus that takes you NYC, Albany, New Jersey, Philadelphia and a few other places for cheap. Because of the morning Wednesday traffic being a little heavy (or just NYC traffic in general) we didn't end up being dropped off until 11:20 (we were suppose to get there at 10:30) We hurried off the bus and from there on the whole day it was go go go go go!
As soon as we got off the bus, we sped walked to see the Empire State Building and part of Times Square. We had to hurry because we needed to make the 1:05pm game that was up north. That was a 20min subway ride. On the way to find the subway green line we were stopping at a few shops looking for Yankees shirts for the other girls. Needless to say we were 5 mins late for the game :( Bummer cause I was really hoping to see the start of the game. ( But I can't
complain, I was happy just being there) I walked in the stadium and
starting yelling like a little girl in excitement because I couldn't
believe I was actually there!!! (They had to snap me back into reality before I got left behind while they were headed to the seats) I was so excited that I didn't even realize we were late or what time it was!
The stadium was absolutely amazing!!! Not a bad seat in the house (unless you had the seat behind the pillars) We had upper deck seats and were 3rd row, so we weren't too far up. We were directly behind the visitor dugout, just higher up. We could see everything in the stadium from there, so beautiful and designed well. During the 3rd inning we got up to go get some food and of course a beer. Best $20 I've ever spent! Not even mad about it! We ended up missing the biggest inning of the game where the Yankees scored 7 runs. It had started raining a little bit right before that, so a lot of people left and because it was a week day game a lot of seats behind home plate were open as well. I thought we could just go down there and get better seats. (I've done it before plenty other times and just left if people came and claimed their seats) I was sadly mistaken, you definitely can NOT do that in Yankees Stadium. They had to check your ticket to make sure you actually have seats down there!
We headed back to our seats and enjoyed the rest of the game. Danced to the YMCA, sang the Take me Out to the Ball Game, took pictures and even got on the Jumbo Tron. It actually took us a few seconds to realize the whole entire stadium could see us dancing to twist and shout. My mate Stacey is from England and she didn't know the rules of the game, so I gave her the low down on the ride down. By the end of the game she was calling foul balls and pretty proud she knew what that meant.
We stayed until the end of the game. Yankees won 11 to 3. We got right back on to the subway to spend the last of our day in Time Square. We had just a little over 2 hours to get to the Train station and be tourist for the day. Boy you could definitely tell I wasn't from NY. My photos aren't the best because half the time I was taking them as I was walking. I really didn't get to sit there and admire anything, (except for the stadium of course) It was all such a fast day. Even when we were hanging out in Time square, there was just so much to look at and see, all I remember were tall building, lots of people, lights, and cars not going anywhere.
I love hotdogs!!! It must be because I've been around baseball my whole life, but I do. Anyways so another thing that I absolutely had to do while I was in NYC was have a hotdog in New York!!! There was all thisch hype about how good they were. I thought it was okay, but I think I'll just stick to my Oscar Myer Wiener bun length hotdogs.
I can't get over how great my day was and how lucky I was able to see the Yankees and experience New York City. I am a very happy girl!!!
I miss you all and can't wait to see you!
Next Thrusday morning I'll be home!
Love you all
Andrea
